Born in Wheatfield Township, Pennsylvania, son of George McIntire and Sarah Davis. Conversion to Mormonism in 1836, through the efforts of Erastus Snow; missionary activities; move to Nauvoo, Illinois, 1840; work on the Nauvoo Temple; successful effort to rescue the Prophet Joseph Smith from false arrest; exodus west; arrival in the Salt Lake Valley, 1849; settlement in St. George, Utah.
